Lumineers: A little history

Den-Mat developed the revolutionary LUMINEERS BY CERINATE. The first porcelain laminates that are contact lens thin and strong, LUMINEERS eliminate the need for the shaving and grinding down of sensitive tooth structure that is common with traditional veneers. Anesthetic shots are also unnecessary. LUMINEERS BY CERINATE provide exceptional results, taking worn, misshapen teeth and transforming them into a naturally beautiful and radiant smile. Dentist have been fitting Lumineers in the USA for over 20 years. DenMat was founded in 1974 by Dr Robert Ibsen in the US. Starting off making bonding materials as the market then was not providing what he wanted.

Lumineers, why are they important to me as a dentist?
The first thing to know is that you can now help a patient achieve a smile of epic proportions without any invasive dental work which you currently have to do to fit traditional veneers. No more grinding down of the original tooth structure. You do not have to ruin good teeth to make the patient happy with their smile. The placing of Lumineers is pain free and the results are instantaneous.

The Lumineers are unique in that they are ultra-thin (approximately 0.2 mm) and highly translucent, allowing them to replicate the natural appearance of enamel. While traditional veneers are much thicker, requiring the grinding down of the original tooth structure, LUMINEERS are so thin that little to no tooth reduction is necessary. Additionally, the durability of LUMINEERS allows them to resist wear and remain resilient to last over 20 years.

The patient comes into the dental practice twice, yes twice, and the Lumineers are done and the patient is away smiling and happy.

First Lumineers Patient Visit:
On the first visit, you will create a precise mold. Then you and your patient will determine the shade of white that is right for them. After your first visit, your dentist will send the mold off to LUMINEERS Smile Design Studio for your custom LUMINEERS to be created. With LUMINEERS, the patient doesn’t have to wear temporaries. When you receive your patients custom LUMINEERS, you check for fit and shade.

Second Lumineers Patient Visit:
Then during the second visit, the LUMINEERS are painlessly applied without shots or drilling of sensitive tooth structure. And you’re patient is ready to start smiling out loud and telling other people about how wonderful a dentist you are!

Simple really.
There will be cases that you will need to do minor dental work prior to making the imprint for the Lumineers. A good way to get the smile perfect is to take some pictures of the patient and email them to DenMat Support to their trained Lumineers Technicians who will suggest the best way to proceed.
Currently one of my patients had some small gingival work done prior to the imprint and now the smile is perfect.

 

So as a dentist I find Lumineers the best way to move forward helping a patient achieve the smile of their dreams.

 

About the Author

I am the first dentist in Romania who is qualified to provide patients Lumineers. I have been a dentist in Romania for 10 years. I created my first practice which is has now grown to 3 surgeries  and I have recently opened a new dental practice in Gorneti where I have one surgery. I currently employ 3 other dentists and I am looking for a fourth. Later this year I hope to open another dental practice here in Romania followed by my first one overseas in the UK where I am a GDC Approved dentist as well.
